Steps of Faith

STEPS OF FAITH is an EXCELLENT movie on Pure Flix! GREAT cast and storyline! The performances were both wonderful and believable and I learned about Hippotherapy, which is "a physical, occupational or speech and language therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement. Hippotherapy literally means "treatment with the help of the horse" from the Greek word, "hippos" meaning horse." Before this movie, I had never in my entire life heard of it! So I was both ENTERTAINED & EDUCATED! It's a movie about finding ones self, hearing GOD's voice, and having the FAITH to stand on GOD's word in Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Know that GOD does not call the equip, HE equips those HE call. If HE has called you to do something, know that HE will equip you to be able to fulfill HIS purpose in you. HE will never leave you nor will HE ever forsake you. The following quote isn't biblical, but, it is inspirational and it is the truth:

"When you are going through something hard and wonder where GOD is, remember the teacher is always quite during the test."

COMMENTARY: As I began typing this review, I realized that me being drawn to watch this movie and literally reactivating my PureFlix.com account just so that I could watch it, was DIVINE PROVIDENCE OF GOD! I have been spiraling out of control. Nothing that can be seen on social media and nothing that can be heard in casual conversations, but, I know and GOD knows. I NEEDED to receive the message of this film, to draw me back to GOD's word and to HIS promises so that I can joyfully continue on the path of HIS will.

Steps of Faith, is a light-heart dramedy about Faith Houston an accountant, who is directed by God to move to a small town to work on a Hippotherapy farm helping children.

Faith is mocked by her family since she doesn’t have a rapport with children or animals and is not a devout Christian. Faith decides to follow her heart and move after she encounters several challenges. She finds herself at the farm in the horse stalls shoveling manure. Faith cracks under pressure and leaves after a child is almost injured questioning whether she heard God’s voice or not.

I BELIEVE that "Girls Trip" (2017) starring Regina Hall (Ryan Pierce), Queen Latifah (Sasha Franklin), Jada Pinkett Smith (Lisa Cooper), and Tiffany Haddish (Dina) will be considered the most fun, hilarious, and memorable movie 🎥 of 2017! I cannot remember a movie that had me screaming OUT LOUD with laughter and then had me almost bawling! "Girls Trip" came out of the gate ON FIRE 🔥 and NEVER, EVER, EVER let up! That was because of Tiffany Haddish's role as Dina, the beautiful, loyal friend, who basically had no filters, NONE, ZILCH, NADA. Her character was on 100 through the entire film. None of the other characters disappointed. They each brought their "A" game making their ensemble THE BEST that I have ever seen! Tiffany Haddish's role as Dina is HER BREAKOUT role, but, she could not have done what she did without the perfect collaboration of all the other actors working alongside of her!

I am biased about Tiffany Haddish's role as Dina because I already knew what Regina, Queen, and Jada were coming with and true to form, THEY BROUGHT with them to their roles EVERYTHING that I was expecting to see and more. However, yeah, I MUST live under a rock because I had NEVER heard of Tiffany Haddish before "Girls Trip". She caught my attention in the trailers, but, we know that sometimes, the trailers end up being the best parts of the entire movie! NOT THIS TIME!

This is a family movie aka a movie for all of the bill paying, 21 and over adults in the family. Although, I would take my 20 year old to see "Girls Trip" with me!

I saw "Girls Trip" in Baton Rouge, LA at the Cinemark Perkins Rowe Theater! The theater 🎭 was PACKED with almost EVERY SEAT FILLED! I got there early enough to scope the audience that was made up of men and women, black, white, asians, young and old and from what I could hear and see, EVERYONE was enjoying the film. I was focused on the movie, but, I do believe that there were few to no bathroom and concession stand breaks. Why? Because no one wanted to miss a single moment of this film.

I will be going to see "Girls Trip" again and I will be purchasing the DVD, in stores, as soon as it becomes available for purchase...in stores!

I give "Girls Trip" 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, and 2 snaps up!

The Fighting Temptations, a 2003 Musical/Comedy/Drama film with an all-star cast and a stellar soundtrack about ACCEPTANCE! The ending scene of the choir's performance in the annual "Gospel Explosion" competition, is EPIC! The choir consists of a mix of baptised men and women, black and white, young and old, christians and sinners, and even inmates all genuinely and unapologetically singing the praises of GOD! This movie for me is not only entertaining, but, it's a classic with a POWERFUL MESSAGE about ACCEPTANCE and how we all have come short of the GLORY OF GOD, but, despite ourselves, HE STILL LOVES EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US!

Amistad

I am in the middle of watching  Amistad, a movie based on the true story that was released in theaters across the country in 1997. I was 34 years old, at the time. I remember both ENJOYING and APPRECIATING the film and Debbie Allen's drive and commitment in getting this story told. She ultimately SUCCEEDED in securing Steven Spielberg as the film's Director and Producer. Eighteen years later and with increased maturity, a different mindset, and aspirations of becoming Roger Sherman Baldwin's (Matthew McConaughey's character in the film) brand of LEGAL COUNSEL PERSONIFIED, I am finding this film to be ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING and one of the BEST FILMS ever produced in this country of this magnitude. The order in which the story is told, the script/dialogue, casting, setting...there is ONLY ONE THING that I DO NOT LIKE about this movie and that is the fact that it is a TRUE STORY that desperately NEEDED TO BE TOLD at all.

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Dreams of a Life

I don't want to die, let alone die alone. This story is absolutely heartbreaking.

When first reading this story, my inner self screamed, "HOW COULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN?" Then, I began to look at my own life and my relatively small circles and even smaller relationships and answered my own question, "VERY EASILY!"

That FACT is brutally apparent as found in the case of Joyce Vincent. This is something that I have come to fear.

Watched this FAITH BASED film on Netflix, a while ago. It's based on a true story about a high school student name, Amy Newhouse.

This story is testimony that we each have a PURPOSE according to GOD'S will. It also brought to my mind the following scripture:

The title of this film is on the mark in that with GOD, HIS answers to us are ALWAYS A GREATER YES! The outcome may not always be what we envisioned, but, because we serve a GOD who is in complete control, HIS outcome is ALWAYS BEST!
