Twist of Faith - myLifetime.com

This is NOT a movie about race. It is a movie about IGNORANCE and how ignorance can rear it's ugly head in a person of any color.

The storyline also resembles some elements of the biblical story of JOB!

I initially started watching it because I wanted to hear Toni Braxton sing and she most certainly did NOT disappoint, and I'm not even a huge fan of hers. However, her singing in this film, in my humble opinion, makes many of her secular hits sound overrated, by comparison. Her music in this movie is nothing other than PURE AND ANGELIC!

Overall, I rate this move 5 STARS! The story-line is impeccable and it is sensitive to our current hostile and racially driven climate. However, IT GLORIFIES GOD TO THE HIGHEST! Netflix has done it again! I had never heard of this movie before and I don't follow Toni Braxton enough to have known that she was starring in this film, but, I am overjoyed that I watched it and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, especially to FELLOW MEMBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST! I can only imagine going through a small portion of the blow dealt out at the beginning of this film and feeling like my FAITH IN GOD is somehow being tested and not understanding why.

1 Corinthians 13:13
New International Version (NIV)

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

About Twist of Faith

Jacob Fisher (David Julian Hirsh), an Orthodox Jewish Cantor and amateur songwriter who resides in Brooklyn, New York, witnesses the senseless murder of his wife and three children. Catatonic, Jacob walks out on his Jewish mourning ritual, leaving behind his Jewish garments, wallet and keys. Abandoning his identity, he wanders aimlessly, hoping somehow to understand his tragedy. Fortuitously, he lands in Brent, Alabama (population 2,500), where he is embraced by Nina (Toni Braxton), a single mother and the lead singer of a small gospel choir (an unlikely finalist in the competition to determine the best gospel choir in Alabama), her Uncle Moe (Mykelti Williamson) and their gospel community who help his return to life while music brings Nina and Jacob together as they try to make sense of his past and their possible future.

"Twist of Faith" is produced by Lighthouse Pictures. Daniel H. Blatt (Wisegal), Craig Baumgarten ("Shattered Glass") and Andrew Howard serve as executive producers. Paul A. Kaufman ("Sins of the Mother") directs from a script written by Joyce Gittlin ("Wings"), Janet Fattal and Stephen Tolkin ("Brothers & Sisters").
